Shakespeare Superbowl

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18526207 Whenever something spreads around this rapidly I’m never sure whether to skip it because you all have already seen it, or blog it because that’s what I’m supposed to be doing. Anyway, NPR did this bit of a Shakespearean spin on the upcoming SuperBowl.  As a lifelong Boston native, there was no way I was going to let this one slip by :). GO PATS !

  1. Hey Duane:

I’m sure you meant to write something like “Boston native and lifelong Pat’s fan”. On the other hand maybe you are being born again every moment of your life in Boston….

    Just being a syntax geek!

  2. Superbowl Sonnet
    (with apologies to W.S.)
Those scores that Brady’s hand did make,
Brought forth a scornful ‘I’ll defeat,’
And Eli languish’d in his wake.
When Coughlin saw his woeful state,
Straight in his heart did fire come,
Chiding that rogue that ever fleet,
Was on his way to certain doom,
And thought it thus anew to greet:
‘I’ll defeat’ we’ll alter with an end,
Shall follow it as gentle day
Doth follow night who like a fiend
From heaven to hell is flown away.
‘I’ll defeat,’ from scorn away they threw,
When they made Brady say ‘not you.’
